The mission of the Criminal Records Unit is to obtain, store, and disseminate Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) on all criminal arrests and dispositions of individuals charged with a criminal offense in New Hampshire. In support of that mission the Criminal Records Unit maintains the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which receives and processes criminal and applicant fingerprint information for the Central Repository and the FBI criminal record database.

Per the New Hampshire Right to Know Law, interested members of the public may obtain these records from the record custodian, that is, the clerk of courts. Persons who wish to obtain New Hampshire judgment records must visit the clerk's office in person during regular business hours and submit a request for court records, specifying the judgment record as the document of interest.

New Hampshire Required FBI Criminal History Record for Non-Criminal Justice Purposes. New Hampshire has several state laws that require both a NH and FBI CHRI record check. For a comprehensive list of those laws, please review Laws Regulating the Release of Criminal Records. This feature allows you to search and browse judicial opinions issued by the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. Paper Casefile Archives. Civil cases filed before June 1, 2004, and criminal cases filed before January 1, 2005, are maintained in paper case files. The clerk's office keeps paper files on-site for two years after a criminal case is closed and for one year after a civil case is closed.
